Kawa-Shima (River-Island). 5 years of being an investigator and now she will be a member. So many members and missionaries have been working SOO hard to help her get baptized, but for some reason it just wouldn't work. (Well Kawashima san is a little... unique...so...) Yesterday she came to church 5 minutes before is started (Miracle) and then stayed the whole time. The men made curry rice for the women for Mothers day, so we all ate together after church. Then out of nowhere Kawashima san walks past me and says,"I am going to have my interview right now!" This was around2:00. Most baptismal interviews last about a half hour. Well around 4:00 the members who were waiting around to see if she passed started to get anxious. I couldn't focus at all. She was in there for 2 hours. At 4:48 she came out with Inoue Choro. They both had very serious faces on and I couldn't tell what happened. I wanted to freak out with joy or start crying. I just wanted to do something, but I didn't understand what was going on. Finally I heard, "Yokatta!" (Good!) and assumed a pass. I then started to freak out. She is now going to get baptized on Saturday.
This is the first baptism I have seen. It is a huge blessing to be apart of this miracle.
There were SOOO many miracles this week. So much I want to talk about, but so little time (because we are going to the public baths (onsens) again!)
1. Met with a president of a creepy church and testified so hard to him, but ended up just learning about one of the scariest religions on the planet. They heal people with light that comes out of their hands. (No light comes out of their hands)
2. An old women came out of her house after she said she had no interest and gave us a giant clam in a plastic bag and then made us eat it in front of her. We said it was very good and she started to cry. "I am so happy I get to see white people eat Japanese food and like it! Look at me just crying! I am so lonely! Ahhh. I love you." She then walked back into her house. Tender moment. Then we spit out the huge wad of brown clam crawling around in our mouths. ( I felt so guilty spitting it out)
3. Meeting the husband of the Nagano family ( The woman who looks like the man off of the Princess Bride. They are so nasty rich and I took sneaky creepy pictures of it)
4. Tomita san almost crying in the lesson we had with her yesterday. The spirit was so strong and she accepted the Book of Mormon and committed to read it. Baptism is still scary (because she is afraid of water..) but she is getting closer and closer every time we see her.
5. Having taco-rice with an English class student and giving him a Book of Mormon. He is super excited to read it and wants to meet with us. He also played with one of the Elders food Baby after we finished eating. That is when you know the person is a genuine human. When they talk to food babies.
6. While in Priesthood during church a member comes up to me and says, "Mecham Choro. Henmi Isato Kyodai wants you to give him the Priesthood. I know you weren't able to last time, but we re-read the book and now you can! So can you do it? Right now? There was no time to freak out. I gave the Priesthood to Henmi Isato. In Japanese. Such a blessing. I love that family sooooooooooo much.
7. Talking to my amazing family for Mothers day. My favorite part is that I don't know how to do math so they called me an hour earlier than I thought they would and woke me up. I loved having a wake up call from my family. Oh and Justin. Congratulations on becoming a man. Your voice is fantastic hahaha I love you.
This wee was amazing. Every week is amazing. There are so many miracles that are going to happen this week and I am excited to share about them all. I love you all so very much. Be excellent to each other.
-Mecham Choro.
