Finding
This week we found a lot of good people in a lot of crazy ways. We wanted to visit with all of our investigators, but they decided to all be busy or not answer their phones or doors. We called the Tomita Family and they said that they really want to see us, but it is Spring break right now for the kids so they are busy with that stuff. So we went straight to finding. We went to Nomiya Kyodai and asked him where we should go finding. We were a bit skeptical about asking him because he has some issues with the word of wisdom and lets just say he didn't do a very good job at hiding it. But we asked him and he said, "Maruyama Nishi Machi" Well... that is way up in the middle of the mountains. Okay... We prayed with him to see success there and left to go dendo. We got up there after walking about an hour up a giant mountain and began to house. We found some amazing families and gave them pamphlets and great stuff, but they said, "If I run into you guys again then I will listen." but they wouldn't make appointments with us. Basically we are going to stalk them from now on. Then we came back for English class that night. There is a student that I have been talking to a lot at Eikaiwa. His name is Soda san. He has a long pony tail and wears the funniest clothes. One time I think he wore a leopard dress to eikaiwa. Well I have been talking to him about the Word of Wisdom and stuff and this last Eikaiwa after we finished and were eating candy I started to teach about God and Jesus Christ. He showed a lot of interest and is now coming to Family Home Evening tonight! WHAT! Hahaha I love him. Well the next day we went back up to the mountains to go finding again. We met this crazy old guy with no teeth and told us that he is super fit because he did baseball when he was a kid. He said that we are young and American so we need to give our American love to a young family that is going trough a hard time right now (referral!!!) We didn't have time to visit the family. But we are excited to meet them soon. We didn't have time because we pinged one more house after the crazy old man and taught a lesson with a lady who talked for 45 minutes straight. Just her. I said nothing. After she finished I taught a quick lesson said she took all of our time, but we would love to come back when we have more time. She said yes. Hahaha I love Japanese people.
Yesterday we had a great yet insane Sacrament meeting. It was toward the end of sacrament meeting and a member all of the sudden decided to fake a heart attack. So we helped him to a room with a futon in it and watched him pretend to be asleep. Eventually he sat up and said that nobody was talking to him so he had to do something. We then watched old seminary videos on his Iphone. (Yes the Armor of God video that was filmed at Mountain View. The song is now stuck in my head). Well we walked back into Sacrament right when it ended and I saw a familiar face. Sato san. He was one of my old investigators from when I first got to Japan. He was the crazy old guy who didn't like to wear clothes when we visted him. Well he remembered me and was very excited to see me. He even gave me chocolate. Apparently after I transferred he came to church every week, but then when it started snowing he stopped coming. The snow has melted (melted to the point where were are now using our bikes! say whattt?!?! Happiness) so he can come to church now.
After church while we were out housing I got a call from Takahashi Kyodai asking me if I would give the Priesthood to a young man. I was freaking out because I couldn't understand what he was saying because of the loud cars and just said yes without knowing anything. Later that night after we got back home from visiting one of my favorite Less Active members (Ogawa Shimai. The sister who forgets everything and lives by herself with her dog. She tried SO hard to get us into her house, but we couldn't because she was the only woman home. She is so old an so cute.) I called Takahashi Kyodai back to confirm what he was telling me about on the phone.
In the Henmi family the sons don't have the Priesthood. The oldest son is now ready and worthy to receive the Aaronic Priesthood and asked if I would be the one to perform the blessing. Usually it is the father of the son who does it, but the Henmi family doesn't have a father. Hearing how much he respected me to ask me to be the one to perform the blessing was an honor. I love that family so much and I so excited for them. They have been progressing so much. When I first met them they weren't coming to church. The oldest son is now receiving the Priesthood and is preparing to serve a mission.
Life is great here in Sapporo. I love everything and everyone. MOTHER THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE EASTER PACKAGE! I have no idea when Easter is, but the chocolate was beautiful. Yes it is almost gone. Yes I did just get it 2 days ago. I LOVE YOU!
Be excellent to each other.
